2012 Calendar: June

It's June; sunny, rainy, summery, chilly June! The month when summer officially peaks almost before it has started - after the 21st the days gradually start getting shorter, even though we still have July and August to enjoy! This month's photo, taken in our garden today, says it all really - flowers in full bloom, covered in raindrops.

It's also the month of the Sacred Heart: the month when we usually celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart, after Trinity Sunday (today's feast) and next week's Corpus Christi. Three feasts focusing on God's generous, self-giving love, to keep us going even while the weather disappoints.

This month I've been reading Romans. So, surrounded by reminders of God's abundant love, there was really only one quote crying out to be chosen - Romans 8: 35, 37-39, Paul at his hyperbolic, rhetorical best...

Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril or sword?... No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
