Brief, belated blog

I started writing this blog about ten days ago, but, after jotting down a few sentences, I lacked the time and space to do anything more with them. And then the days moved on. But the thoughts have lingered, as has the darkness - physically in the northern hemisphere, and existentially, menacingly, across the world. So, here is a very brief, very belated blog, which started with noticing a tweet from @Naturalcalendar...

If you're reading our book, Nature's Calendar, this microseason, 5-9th Jan, is 'The Light Steals Back'

'Mid-January is a time to pause & observe, to look for light wherever we can find it & remember it is always held within the darkness.'

May you too find light in the darkness.

It was shared on the day when we celebrated the Epiphany; the revelation of Christ, Light blazing through darkness. And it spoke to me of hope, of course, because it also spoke of awareness; eyes and a heart which can look upon the darkness, and see the light held within it... Eyes which can notice even the slimmest sliver of light, seeping through a crack; hearts which can rejoice in even the smallest flame, softening and dispelling darkness.

And it spoke to me of the call each one of us receives, to be that light, breaking through the surrounding darkness... To be a daily, everyday Epiphany; a manifestation of the radiance and the compassion and the delight which is Christ, Love with and among us. It's what our darkness so desperately needs... and what our God so compellingly, insistently calls us to.

May we all find light in the darkness... and even more, may we all be that light for others.
